DIY Crafty Crafts

Craftiness = Thief of all "spare" time

Oh wreaths... how I love making you. This has been my big thing this year... it's one of those mindless activities that you can do while watching tv or chatting on the phone. I have just love doing it. I have made so so so so so many... but below are a few of my favs...

This is another favorite...

Christmas! This one is GORGEOUS!
BOO!
This one's for my mama!
Fall flowers

This one is on my front door!

Totally fun!! I just couldn't stop doing it. I sold a couple which   is great, and opened an Etsy site (even better). Maybe it'll keep me busy throughout the year.

Well, I've narrowed it down. I usually have a flurry of ideas and then get flustered trying to create them all. So this year, I'm only making a specific number of items and investing more time one each one. Obviously there is the standard knitted/crocheted scard, but I'm branching out (look out!) to baby blankets. All you ladies need to stop having babies!!!! My fingers are tired!!!

Here are the rest...

Acrylic Painted Drinking Glasses

Mercury Glass Vases/Candle Holders

Wreaths (of course, so many different materials to choose from!!)
And Crayon Art

Have you seen crayon art? Totally cool! Beautiful with endless possibilities.

Guess I should get to work!

July 21, 2012

With Christmas only 5 months away... have you started crafting? I certainly have...

I'm a weirdo. I know.

I don't know what it is but this time of year I just can't sit still. I'll get really motivated for about a month or so and then lose all track of time until November when I start to scramble and make sure I don't forget anyone on my list.

This year it's all about simple, homemade goods. Burlap is a new material I've been working with, and for some reason, jewelry making has been a calming activity. I'm excited to continue to use an ancient sewing machine my mom passed on. They certainly don't make these like they used to.

Any crafting suggestions?

Baby Dreams

This sprinkle was so much fun! If you don't already know, a sprinkle is a less extravagant version of a baby shower for a mommy who's having her 2nd, 3rd, or whatever child. In this case I stuck with the sprinkle theme and purple, the mommy's favorite color. I have to add more pics of the other things I did like the sprinkle cookies, the hot chocolate spoons and the ballons we all stuffed our shirts with to be pregnant too!

My four layer cake turned into three after a mishap in the kitchen. :/ But it came out so cute and tasty! Three layers all in different color purples and sprinkled. This cake was the most fun I have EVER had baking. I kid you not, I was throwing sprinkles at this cake in an attempt to get it covered. My husband walked into the kitchen with this weird look on his face, and then turned around and walked out murmering something about how he "didn't want to know"... Some advice, put the cake on some tin foil and fold up the sides. It catches some of the sprinkles though not all... I swear I'm still picking them up from the floor.

The favors were super cute too! I made both a lemon and a vanilla sugar scrub. I filled 4oz mason jars with one of the sugar scrubs and added a simple tag and ribbon. They were a big hit!

China Cabinet Happiness

I've been inspired as of late to be creating (and actually finishing) projects around the house. The first was a China cabinet fashioned from an old clothing armoire. The first photo is the before and the next two are afters. I repaired any damages, stripped, painted, painted and painted in an antique crackle finish and replaced the hardware. I also hung glass storage on the ceiling of the inside. Woohoo for china storage! It can get out of my closet now and I finally have a place for the bar!

More to come on these...
